Worn, not carried. master-piece x Universal Works.
“Like all our collaborative projects, we strive for it to be just that. A real collaboration; a meeting of our teams and looking at how and why we work together.”—David Keyte, UW Co-Founder.

This project started with a simple observation in Kyoto. When we visited the master-piece store, the team weren’t carrying bags in the usual way. It wasn’t about how the bags looked, but how they were worn—not just as an accessory, but as part of their outfit. That idea stuck with us and became the starting point for the collection.

David and Stephanie with An from master-piece outside the master-piece store in Kyoto.
There are three bags in this collaboration: two sizes of the Shoulder Bag, designed to be worn like a garment, and a smaller Sacoche that sits alongside them, looking after the essentials. Phone, notebook, camera, keys; the rest depending on the day ahead. One might be for the number 47 bus, one for the flight to Tokyo. The size simply depends on how much of your life you carry with you that day.

The branding across the bags is deliberately subtle, nothing loud, nothing oversized, only visible when the light catches it. Because these bags are not designed to be the main event. They are designed to be worn, lived in, and to become part of your everyday attire.

When we think about master-piece, and why we enjoy working with them, it comes back to this shared way of thinking. They see bags in the same way we see clothing.
We have also created a small capsule of clothing designed to sit naturally alongside these bags. Easy pieces in beige, black and olive, with contrast colour details that link back to the bags. Simple, functional, and designed to be worn every day, together.
