Winter Suiting guide.

Introducing our latest shoot showcasing some seriously smart looks to inspire you for any upcoming occasions that require you to appear 'well turned out'.

While many of our pieces match, we are not makers of 'suits' in the traditional sense of the word. Our approach to 'Suiting' nods to formal wear, but we strip away the stiff interfacings and shoulder pads, to create a more laid-back, easy-to-wear aesthetic that suits how we dress today.

Two Button Jacket. Lindberg Pant.

The Two Button Jacket is our most recognisable take on tailoring, but in Robin Wool it takes on a different character. The loosely woven cloth has a softly textured finish that brings character to the suit. With enough drape to soften the overall silhouette, it complements the longer line of the Lindberg Pant and creates a look that feels relaxed, contemporary and quietly refined.

Paired with the new Lindberg Pant, a longer trouser finished with a turn-up hem, the result feels contemporary without trying too hard. The addition of a matching waistcoat introduces a more traditional tailoring element, creating a suit that can move easily between relaxed and more formal settings. It is an example of how fabrics and familiar tailoring can feel entirely modern through, proportion and styling.

Warmus Jacket. Oxford Pant.

The Franck and Warmus jackets share the same relaxed approach to tailoring, drawing inspiration from classic chore styling rather than traditional suit jackets. Designed to be worn open at the neck they offer a smart but informal alternative to more conventional tailoring.   

Similar in fit and overall silhouette, the differences lie in the details. The Warmus features working cuffs and a rear waist adjuster, bringing an extra level of refinement to the style, while the Franck takes a simpler approach, removing both to create a cleaner, more straightforward appearance. 

Shown here in brown Micro Canvas with the Oxford Pant, the Warmus demonstrates the strength of a simple silhouette. The crisp cotton fabric lends structure helping both the jacket and the fuller-cut trouser maintain their shape. The result is a straight, easy silhouette that feels relaxed without appearing oversized. 

Whether you prefer the added detailing of the Warmus or the simplicity of the Franck, both reflect our approach to suiting: practical, adaptable and designed to be worn as naturally as any everyday jacket. 

Manor Jacket. Military Chino.

The Manor Jacket draws on classic tailoring, combining a double-breasted front with a relaxed, easy-to-wear shape. Recently updated with a six-button fastening, it is paired here with the Military Chino to create a clean, timeless silhouette. 

What sets this suit apart is the corduroy. Its soft handle and rich texture bring an informality that sits naturally against the more traditional shape of the jacket, softening the edges and giving the suit a more relaxed character. As the fabric softens further with wear, it only becomes easier to live with. 

While shown here with the Military Chino for a clean, classic silhouette, the Manor is equally at home worn with the Pleated Track Pant in matching corduroy. The fuller trouser softens the overall look, creating a more relaxed take on the suit while retaining the character of the fabric.

Franck Jacket. Pleated Track Pant.

Ives Jacket. Pleated Track Pant.

The Ives Jacket continues our exploration of chore-inspired tailoring. Its shorter, boxier shape brings a contemporary feel, while the blue Wool Herringbone gives the style a more traditional character. Worn with the Pleated Track Pant, it creates an easy-going suit with a contemporary feel, balancing the practicality of workwear with the versatility of modern tailoring.

While it works naturally as part of a suit, the Ives is equally comfortable worn on its own, making it one of those styles that earns its place.

Two Button Jacket. Pleated Track Pant.

The Two Button Jacket is our most familiar expression of tailoring, combining the recognisable shape of a classic suit jacket with the relaxed feel that defines Universal Works. In this olive Recycled IT Tweed, it becomes an easy everyday suit: smart when required, but not overly formal.

The fabric has enough substance for the cooler months while remaining comfortable and easy to wear, creating a soft drape through both the jacket and Pleated Track Pant. The jacket's gently shaped silhouette brings structure and balance, while the fuller trouser adds a relaxed, contemporary feel. 

Also available with our slimmer Military Chino, this is a suit that adapts easily to different styles and occasions, making it one of our most enduring combinations. 

Cotton Twill.

We always start with Twill. A perennial favourite that returns to UW each season, we love it for its versatility, laid-back smartness and timeless feel.

It can be dressed up or down depending on what you have going on. No breaking-in is necessary, thanks to the high-quality, tightly woven cotton. Easy to wear but smart, durable but sartorial, our Twill is made in an exclusive 3/1 weave, which gives it that lovely subtle diagonal stripe.
